WebCT Student Access Instructions

Sample instructions given to students about how to access their course in WebCT for the first time:

To log-in,    1. go to the Mesa State College Website – http://www.mesastate.edu

2. Select Current Students, then select Course Websites  (or point your browser directly to http://webct.mesastate.edu 

 3.  When the "My WebCT page" comes up, select "Create My WebCT."
 Fill out the form, providing your name, email address, and then create your webct username and password.  Make sure you write down this information  where you won't lose it. 

4.  When you select the "Create" button, you will be given a log-in dialog box. Put in your new username and password, this will bring you to the My WebCT Page, with YOUR name at the top.

5.  Click on "Add Course."   When the new page loads, click on the Category _______________  (Your academic school goes here) and then select __________________ (Your course name goes here).

6.  For your course username and password:

username = first initial and last name

Example Tiger Woods = twoods;   John O'Brien = jobrian   

password is the first two letters of your FIRST name, followed by the last four numbers of your social security number, followed by the last two letters of your LAST name:

Example:   Tiger Woods   113-23-1234   password = ti1234ds

7.  Type in your username and password, hit "Continue," and this will bring up a screen saying you have successfully added the course.  

8.  From this time on, to access the Course website you can just go to webct.mesastate.edu, select "Log-in to My WebCT," using the username and password YOU created in step 4 above.    Click on the course name to enter it.

9.   If you have another class which uses WebCt, you can simply add the course to your existing "My WebCT" account.
